We’re changing up the usual virtual 2nd Thursday Happy Hourwith a lively and colorful round of Match Game PM and you won’t want to miss this one!!! This event is sponsored by Fab Brands, and Beth Erlendson will play the role of “Host.”
We’re taking a trip back in time and will recreate one of the funniest game shows to hit the TV screen – Match Game. Hosted by Gene Rayburn, it featured two contestants and a panel of 6 celebrities. The celebrity panelists would be given a sentence with a missing word, which they would then have to fill in. (e.g., "The advertising executive was fired today because he used Dean Martin in a commercial for *blank.*). The contestants would then give their own answer, and scored points according to how many celebrities gave the same answer.
The Match Game PM version was played at night with abundant alcoholic beverages consumed and major hilarity ensued! Sounds like a perfect “match” for an OEA night!
Here's how it will be played:
- Two event attendees will be selected to be “contestants. ”
- Six attendees will play the role of celebrity panelist. (You can use your own name and be a celebrity in your own right, or get creative and choose an alter-ego.)
- Your host, Beth Erlendson, will read a funny fill-in-the-blank statement.
- The “celebrity panelists” will write their responses on a large sheet of paper with a word or phrase which they thought best completed said statement.
- Contestant 1 will be asked for his/her answer. A correct match was worth one point each.
- We’ll repeat the above with a round of Contestant 2.
- 3 rounds will be played
- If we have enough participants, we’ll have two groups of celebrity panelists – one for each contestant.
What you need to play:

Name tag with your “name”

Paper

Pen (Ideally a large felt tip pen so your answer can easily be seen on the screen)

A beverage of your choice
